Eating plant-based I really try to balance my carb intake with my fruit and veggie intake to maintain long-lasting energy. A typical morning of eating for me involves organic cereal with almond milk or plain oatmeal with a little cinnamon, eating your carb first provides you with longer lasting energy. This is because carbs are complex chains of molecules that your body takes longer to break down AKA, long last energy.
After I eat some type of carb, I go in for my smoothie. This is a huge smoothie and I take my time drinking it. It’s packed with vitamins to start off your day with a healthy bang!
Here’s what you’ll need:
- 1 ripe banana
- 1 1/2 cups of spinach (I put in a big handful because I don’t measure)
- 1/2 cup of blueberries (I use frozen because they’re cheaper)
- Approx. 8 strawberries
- 1 cup acai juice
- 1/2 cup orange juice
Throw it in the blender and enjoy!
