Up-cycling Thursday: Back to basics

Today is all about not being perfect (ask anyone who knows me, they’ll tell you I’m far from). This interview ready outfit is only 1/4 up-cycled (and thats OK!). The black shirt is from my favorite consignment store, and it’s my most favorite basic black shirt. It is a peplum top that is 100% cotton. Here’s why every girl needs a shirt like this:

1. A peplum style top sinches in at the waist (the smallest part of your body) and gives you an hourglass appearance. Go get one.

2. It is EXTREMELY versatile. I can put this on with a pencil skirt, jeans, dress pants, shorts, and basically anything else. Go get one.

3. I can throw it in the washing machine. Go get one.

4. It looks professional but it’s also comfortable. Go get one.

Did I mention you should have one? But the other part of this post is to point out that only the shirt in this outfit is up-cycled. As it stands, my closet is approximately 50% up-cycled and 50% not. And that is more than ok, simply making the effort to find things you like that are up-cycled will not only save you money, but it will also be very eco-friendly. Nobody’s perfect but you better still go work it (Thanks Hannah Montana).
